In the course of Chinese history, only one women managed to declare
herself an emperor in her own right - the first and only female
Emperor.
This women was Empress Wu who glorifed herself with all the symbols
of an emperor including a harem of male lovers.
She has since been debated and history's verdict of her changes
frequently.
In the end, people and society seem to have appropiated her as a
mirror to reflect their values than a judegment of her.

year. Its current Acting Exec. Director, S. B. Woo, who is a
volunteer
and 80-20's Founding President, aims to fade out.
80-20 plans to have 2 full time employees from then
on.
They will assist an elected President, who is a volunteer and the
Spokes-
person for 80-20.
Suzanna Lin, M.D., will continue to be the Special
Assistant
to either the President or the Executive Director, depending on
80-20's
needs.
80-20 seeks a full-time Executive Director, with experience in elections,
political campaigns, and civil rights struggles. A record of
serving the
Asian Am community in thankless jobs and multi-tasking is also
important. The salary will be up to $100,000 per year. Some benefits are
included. For those who are interested, please send your applications to

should include a cover letter stating why
one is interested in the job, how much one knows about 80-20, and
a
resume. Three References are welcome but not necessary until
later.

Dear Chinatownologists,
For the second time this year, another Christian pastor in
Singapore was caught making insensitive remarks about other faiths.
In this instance, Taoism was the subject of criticism. One of the
deities that the Pastor made fun of was Guan Gong, the highly
respected God of War and Literature.
This event was even reported as far as Canada by the Winnipeg
Free Press
Like in the previous Pastor Rony Tan incident where he mocked
Taoism and Buddhism, the Church issued apologies followed by
coverage of meetings with religious leaders. While the damage
control is being implemented to preserve social harmony, it is also
equally important that people understand how and why a Chinese
General from the Three Kingdoms period continued to be worshipped
by generations of Chinese and non Chinese and how temples dedicated
to his memory continue to be established around the world.

水晶石 復活《清明上河圖》 成中國館鎮館之寶
「會動的《清明上河圖》」是各大媒體和無數參觀者公認的世博中國館內最搶眼的展品。通過3D方式復活宋代畫家張擇端這一傑作的是中關村海淀園的水晶石數字科技有限公司。
相關項目負責人介紹，「這是科技專利和歷史考證共同作用的結晶」。張擇端版原畫長528.7釐米、寬24.8釐米，本次復活的「百米長卷」按長度來算放大了近30倍，按面積來算放大了約700倍，整幅屏幕高6.5米，長約130米，觀眾走馬觀花也得看10分鐘。由於展品尺幅巨大，為避免參觀者感到枯燥，特意設計成褶皺狀。富於創造性的是，它不僅展現了原畫中的日景，還合理「想像」了夜景，天色晦明變化，4分鐘一個輪迴。
《清明上河圖》的影像是由12台投影儀把製作好的《清明上河圖》動畫投放在銀幕上的。褶皺狀設計之下，銀幕起伏最大的凹凸落差大到2.5米。這樣一來，投影極易出現變形，12台投影儀的影像如何對接得天衣無縫也成為難題。為克服這一難題，水晶石自2008年起開始研發「大尺寸屏幕人機互動」世博科技專項並獲得成功。
《清明上河圖》下那條潺潺流動的江水也引起參觀者的無限好奇——波光粼粼的水面甚至會出現水流因鵝卵石阻力而跳躍、改向的情況，萬分逼真——這又是如何做到的呢？項目負責人解釋，江水流動、波光粼粼的動態景像是通過虛實相間的手段呈現出來的。用26台投影儀投射在一層紗網上——紗網這種媒介的特性可以在保留一部分影像的同時使一部分影像透過，同時在紗網下面堆積很多黃沙和鵝卵石，這樣就呈現出了令人驚奇的逼真景象。
成立於1995年的水晶石數字科技有限公司現已成為亞洲數字視覺展示領域規模最大的企業，致力於以數字化三維技術為核心，提供全球領先的數字視覺技術及服務。北京奧運會開幕式中貫穿整場的「捲軸」影像就是水晶石的傑作。
2001年，水晶石為上海申博製作「申博宣傳片」，數字影像的魅力震驚四座。2007年，水晶石正式成為「中國2010年上海世博會指定多媒體設計服務商」。之後，水晶石又成為上海世博局指定的網上世博會創意策劃與數字展示服務提供商，為網上世博提供創意策劃及平台、園區建設等服務。

年6月20日至25日辦理「2010年海外僑商青年創業研習營」（以下簡稱研習營），以輔導僑商青年創業並推動與國內企業交流。
二、參加人員資格：僑居海外，年齡20至40歲，有意自行創業之僑商青年。
三、研習內容包括：創業基礎研習課程、觀摩國內網路創業、連鎖加盟等創業案例，分享創業理念，另並安排台灣在地文化體驗行程。

2010年海外客家美食料理研習班招生
一、行政院客家委員會與僑務委員會為推廣客家美食，訂於本（99）年7月12日至7月23日（週六、日有課程安排）共同辦理「海外客家美食料理研習班」，並委請台中弘光科技大學承辦，請符合條件之海外僑胞踴躍報名。
二、課程內容包含梅干扣肉、桔醬羊肋排、客家菜包、粢粑、紅糟製作及醬蘿蔔等傳統與創意客家料理實作、客庄參訪及客家菜常用食材與烹調觀念等相關專業課程。
三、研習對象及費用：
（一）年滿25歲，僑居海外客家鄉親及有意學習客家美食料理人員。
（二）行政院客家委員會將負擔學員研習期間學雜費、保險費、膳宿費及集體活動、交通、行政等費用；參加學員自行負擔往返交通費用。
